Performing Arts Program
Grupo Folklórico Nuestras Raíces
Founded in 1996, this program started as a group of 10 girls practicing folklórico in an old church gymnasium. We now serve over 250 members and their families from the South and Southbay areas of Los Angeles.
We are dedicated to our community and our roots. We offer affordable dance classes with reduced cost options for families. At Nuestras Raíces, students only need to purchase their rehearsal materials to participate in our program.
We perform at many local community events annually. Our dancers have performed on various stages including: Royce Hall, James R. Armstrong Theatre, Marsee Auditorium, Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, and George Nakano Theatre among others.
Mariachi Nuestras Raíces
THIS PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY ON HIATUS SINCE THE START OF THE COVID19 PANDEMIC.
Mariachi Nuestras Raíces launched in June of 2017 and debuted at our 22nd annual Tardeada Mexicana in 2018. Ernesto Molina, director of Mariachi Estrella de Jalisco, directs the group and instructs the students in the art of mariachi music. Our youth mariachi has performed at every Tardeada Mexicana since their debut and headlines our annual holiday Posada.
